Red or Orange?: a quick color challenge

How the game works

Each judgment fills the stage with one warm color somewhere on the road between red and orange, and you call it: Red or Orange? Over seven samples the hue slides along that warm range, from unmistakable scarlet to traffic-cone territory and back through the ambiguous middle. The game records where your answers flip and reports the approximate hue of your personal boundary.

What this challenge trains

Warm boundaries are slipperier than they look — the same hue can read as "dark orange" to one person and "bright red" to another, and both are defensible. This game makes your own naming habit visible. Answering with your first impression produces a cleaner boundary than debating each swatch, because deliberation tends to drag answers toward the middle.

Before you compare results

The seven hues are regenerated every session, so the boundary is estimated from fresh samples each time. Warm colors are especially sensitive to display temperature and night mode, which can push the whole range redder or more orange. Your boundary is a description of naming under these conditions, not a diagnosis of color vision.
