Color Matching: a quick color challenge

How the game works

The target color and your working color sit side by side and never hide. You adjust three sliders — Hue, Saturation and Lightness — and watch your swatch move in real time. Check match scores the attempt as a percentage, and you can keep adjusting and rechecking as many times as you like. New target starts an independent challenge; there is no fixed round count.

What this challenge trains

With a constant reference visible, this is pure discrimination and control rather than memory. It teaches how the three dimensions interact: raising lightness washes out saturation, so the last few percent usually require touching two sliders together. Watching the percentage move as you adjust is the fastest way to build an intuition for how HSL maps to what you see.

Before you compare results

Each new target is generated independently, and your best percentage is yours to beat rather than a fixed pass mark. Two screens can render the same HSL triple visibly differently, which directly changes what a "perfect" match looks like. Treat percentages as feedback on this display pairing, not as a measurement of vision or ability.
