Pink or Purple?: a quick color challenge

How the game works

The stage fills with one magenta-family color per judgment, and you decide: Purple or Pink? Across seven samples the hue and lightness walk the magenta range — bubblegum at one end, royal at the other, and a contested zone in the middle where reasonable people disagree. Your seven calls are used to estimate where your personal label flips, reported as an approximate boundary.

What this challenge trains

The pink-purple line is unusual because lightness does as much work as hue: darken a pink and it starts sounding purple. This game teaches you to notice which cue your own naming follows. As with every boundary game, first impressions give the cleanest measurement — if a swatch starts an argument in your head, note that it lives near your boundary.

Before you compare results

The sample sequence is regenerated each session, so every boundary is estimated fresh. Magentas are notoriously display-dependent — screens with boosted saturation push pink toward purple, and night mode drags everything warmer. The result describes your naming habit on this device in this light; it is not a diagnosis of color vision.
