Complementary Color: a quick color challenge

How the game works

A target color appears with four candidate swatches. Somewhere among them sits its complement — the color directly opposite on the color wheel, roughly 180 degrees of hue away. You pick it, get instant right-or-wrong feedback with the correct answer shown, and move to the next target. Rounds keep coming and your score accumulates; there is no fixed finish line.

What this challenge trains

Complements are the backbone of color harmony: designers pair them because they make each other look more vivid. Playing builds a mental wheel — after a while you stop computing and start seeing that a teal target wants something coral-ish. The distractors are chosen near the complement but slightly rotated, so "close" is not close enough.

Before you compare results

Targets and candidate sets are regenerated every round, and the position of the correct swatch is shuffled. Saturation and lightness are held comparable so hue does the talking, but display warmth can still tilt how opposites appear. Your score is feedback about wheel intuition on this screen, not a measurement of vision or ability.
