Broken Slider: a quick color challenge

How the game works

The target and your color sit side by side, but one of the three HSL controls is broken: locked at a wrong value and marked so you know which one. You must close the gap using only the two sliders that still work, which is always possible only up to a point — the locked dimension caps how close you can get. Check match shows the percentage, and Next round deals a new target with a newly randomized broken control.

What this challenge trains

This teaches compensation: when hue is stuck, you learn how far saturation and lightness can fake it, and when lightness is locked you discover how much hue error the eye tolerates at the wrong brightness. The practical skill is reading which dimension is doing the damage. Chasing the last few percent is instructive — sometimes the locked slider simply forbids a perfect score.

Before you compare results

Targets and the locked control are regenerated every round, so no two puzzles share the same constraint. Your accumulated results reflect adaptation across many different handicaps rather than one fixed test. Display quality still shapes what "close" looks like, so treat percentages as feedback on this screen, not as a measurement of vision or ability.
