Hue Sorting: a quick color challenge

How the game works

You are given a row of color tiles with the two end tiles locked in place. The middle tiles are shuffled, and you rebuild a smooth gradient between the two fixed end tiles by tapping two tiles to swap them. Check order marks the tiles that are still out of place so you can keep correcting without starting over. Rounds grow from four tiles up to seven, which makes the correct order far less obvious.

What this challenge trains

Sorting is discrimination applied in series: instead of spotting one odd tile, you rank many small differences against each other. The reliable technique is to compare neighbors rather than distant tiles — most mistakes hide between adjacent swatches that look interchangeable until they sit side by side. If a swap makes both neighbors look worse, undo it.

Before you compare results

The gradient family, the tile count progression and the shuffle are regenerated every round, so you never sort the same row twice. Shuffle again produces a fresh arrangement of the same tiles, not an easier one. Display calibration shifts the apparent spacing between tiles, so treat completion as feedback for this device, not as a measure of vision or ability.
