Name That Color: a quick color challenge

How the game works

A randomly generated shade takes the stage, and four common color names wait below it. You choose the name that fits best, and the feedback tells you the expected answer immediately — agree or not, you learn something. Next round brings a new shade, and your correct count accumulates against the number answered for as long as you care to play.

What this challenge trains

Color vocabulary is a real skill: most people use a dozen names for thousands of distinguishable shades. This game stretches the mapping in both directions — seeing a color and retrieving a name, and discovering where names like teal, coral or maroon actually live. The expected answer is a guide, not a law; naming has legitimate fuzzy edges, which is part of the fun.

Before you compare results

Shades and option sets are regenerated every round, and the four names are drawn so the distractors stay plausible. Display calibration shifts the shades themselves, which can nudge a borderline sample from one name toward another. Your score tracks vocabulary growth on this screen, and says nothing about vision health or ability.
