Blue or Green?: a quick color challenge

How the game works

The stage fills with a single turquoise-leaning color, and you make one call: does it read closer to Green or to Blue? Across seven judgments the hue walks along the blue-green line, sometimes clearly one side, sometimes uncomfortably in the middle. There is no timer and no trick — the game is the hesitation itself. Your answers are tracked in order so the turning point can be estimated.

What this challenge trains

Boundary games map where your personal color categories sit. The turquoise region is famous because English splits it into two common names while the underlying hue changes smoothly. Answering quickly and honestly gives a cleaner boundary than deliberating; if you find yourself arguing with a swatch, that swatch probably is your boundary. After seven calls you see the approximate hue where you start saying "blue".

Before you compare results

The sequence of hues is regenerated each session, so your boundary is measured against fresh samples every time. Display warmth, night mode and ambient light can shift where turquoise appears to tip, so a boundary found on one screen may move on another. The result is a description of your naming habit under these conditions, not a diagnosis of color vision.
